“The ephemeral qualities of sound and smoke reveal
to me a profound paradox of presence and absence where nothing holds everything."

This looking box creates an intimate play between light, smoke and sound. It captures a small fragment of reality in order to give shape to nothingness. Through light, which itself remains invisible, we are able to see everything. Yet when smoke makes the light visible, we realise there is nothing there. A whispering voice, transmitted through a directive speaker, speaks about presence and absence. The ephemeral smoke makes the sound vibrations visible, while the voice gives shape to what remains unspoken. Within the drifting smoke we explore how the muffled, the cloudy, the barely perceptible can speak volumes.

This box does not conceal anything, it reveals the invisible. There is nothing inside, and yet everything is present. Artist and spectator meet in absence: here and now, there and then.
